Earning money is imporant so we can buy toys for children now and to retire.  So how much money do we need to save up so we can retire ?

My husband told me we need to plan what we like to do after we retire, so that we can calculate now how much money is needed to carry out all those things: e.g. learning to play the piano, travelling to various countries, getting another degree, go clubbing every week etc.  Everything needs money.

So it makes sense to calculate how much is needed for the air ticket, accomodation, entrance fees, course fees etc. We need to set aside enough in order to do all these activities after we retire.  8)

My 3 year old cried this morning at his child care centre, asking me, why I have to leave him at the centre and go to work.  I explained that I need to work to earn money so that I can buy toys for him to play with.  He wailed inconsolably, “But I don’t want the toys. I  only want you.  I like you, mom.”

Perhaps he is experiencing separation anxiety because 3 minutes after I am out of sight, he would stop crying and sulk for another 20 minutes or so before he gets on with the activities.  He is very persistent since this has went on for 4 months already.

This is not new for all children, but some children just adapt very quickly to new surrounding.   I wonder if the upbringing of the child makes a different to how soon the child can get use to saying “Bye Mom” when he is sent to the centre everyday.
